Inaugural OIBI Conference

19 – 22 August 2022

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Oxford Institute for British Islam (OIBI) is a brand-new think tank and academic facility promoting a Qur’an-centric faith that is rooted in and relevant to the United Kingdom. It champions an erudite, egalitarian, and enlightened Islam in conformity with pristine scriptural tenets.

Open to those of all faiths and none, OIBI seeks to be the premier forum for the scholarly articulation of a liberal, forward-looking and progressive Islam through rigorous intellectual analyses and a forensic application of contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics.

OIBI holds its inaugural conference at St John’s College in the University of Oxford from 19th – 21st August 2022. This scholarly convention seeks to disseminate rigorous cross-disciplinary research and study covering the full spectrum of issues relating to Islam and Muslims in Britain as well as building a truly epistemic community transcending existing philosophical and pedagogical boundaries.

This academic gathering furnishes a nationwide and global platform for established experts, upcoming researchers, emerging scholars, and graduate students to share research findings with authoritative specialists in their respective fields. Paper proposals will be evaluated based on originality, research depth, and pertinence to the conference’s objectives. The best submissions will be published in a collection of essays in conjunction with a leading scholarly publisher.

At this, its inaugural event, OIBI’s first conference will revolve around its core mission:
